The International 2012 - Qualifiers - Qualifikanten stehen fest

Before the match against Next.kz CWM’s computer had issues and was unable to play. So for the match he decided that he will try to go and play at an internet café. Once he had reached the café it had already been 10-20 minutes late (we sincerely apologize for the delay of the match as well) so we had to just jump in to the game immediately.

Once the game had already started CWM realized that the pcs weren’t very optimal to run dota 2 and it wasn’t what he is used to (including the small monitor) he was very upset and agitated at the fact that he would have about 40 fps while he wasn’t moving and come time to cast spells/in action it would go lower. Any gamer who has played a game professionally before can understand that its very unpleasant and a huge disadvantage when you cant play on the same quality/optimal settings. For example because of this in game 1 CWM would normally have played Sand King and I would have played ancient apparition but he said it would be too difficult/better if I played sand king because of the computer, but in game 2 he didn’t really have much of a choice.

During game 1 he also mentioned that if we were to lose the games he may need to postpone the loser bracket game if possible due to the situation and that the computers at the café maybe have been booked and he may have to leave. After the games we had asked for a postpone, and as the info traveled from person to person it became a broken telephone where a streamer ended up saying CWM got kicked from the café which was not true. Hearing this, the café owner became upset and defended the pride of the café like any other café owner would do and made a post with what he felt was right to say. When we had asked for the postpone, and after it was granted was when CWM really left the internet café.

Overall this was all a massive misunderstanding between players, admins, and casters which resulted in many people feeling extremely insulted and disappointed. On behalf of my team I would sincerely apologize for all the trouble this has caused to all who were affected and especially the viewers who were looking forward to the game.

We wanted to wait until we gathered as much information as possible before ruling on this issue. There was a lot of miscommunication that led to these events that aren't entirely any one person's fault. Originally it was thought, due to miscommunication from one source to another, that CWM might have lied about the reason why they could not play. This was not entirely true, and caused the cybercafe owner to get angry and make a post at gosugamers. As it turned out this had just been a miscommunication between CWM and his team mates. A combination of pc issues (since his PC died earlier that day), and misunderstanding regarding availability caused Mouz to request postpone. We wanted there to be a day seperation, but ultimately by the time the issue was cleared up, it was too late in the day and was better to move it to early today and try to have a short break in between the games.
