      Stark analysiert. :D

    • I'm not one to post very often but I noticed it was my cake day so why the hell not. Most would post a picture of a cat to reap that sweet sweet karma but instead I felt like sharing my Dota 2 experiences and story with the greatest community out there. I'll try to keep this short Well, that didn't happen.

It all started March 2011. Yep, not that long ago. I had just moved in with my good high school friend and he insisted I played this game call League of Legends. Hope I didn't lose too many of you there. Well, I wasn't really the type to play RTS games and of course when I first saw LoL that is what I thought it was. I declined after they had me play the tutorial because even though it tried to explain the game it just did a really bad job. A few weeks pass of me sitting in his room watching him play with our other friends. "Well, you know... it doesn't look that bad so I'll give it another shot" Holy shit was it fun! After giving the game another chance I was sold. We played LoL daily for the next month. That is when my room mate confronted me again.

"The real reason I wanted to get you into LoL was Because Valve is developing Dota 2 and I really want to play it"

Sounds legit, I'm a big Valve fan and have herd of this 'Dota 2' but I had no idea what it was about.

"To get us better prepared I though we would switch over to HoN"

      *Alright, Bro. *

My god, even though this game seemed the same it was 20x harder! But then again my friend and I are real tryhards so we enjoyed the challenge. We smashed our nuts for weeks but we eventually got to a comfortable point in this new game. We were watching pro games and studied all the mechanics. All in hopes that we would be ready for Dota 2.

The day finally came. The first screen shots of Dota 2 came out. If I recall correctly it was the end of July or the beginning of August right before the International 1. Holy shit did it look awesome. My friend and I had this fear in the back of our head that Dota 2 might suck (We had no evidence to believe this of course, it was just a 'what if' we talked about) but after that those fears flew out of the window. The tournament that followed in the next few weeks was just epic. I'm glad we played HoN for those few months before because it made it so much easier to follow what was going on... but it was so short. We didn't get our full Dota 2 fix... We HAD to get our hand on a beta key!

Every day we would check our e-mail for that golden ticket; every day we waited for our beta key. Days. Weeks. Months passed. Until that unforgettable November evening. I was just sitting at my computer browsing Reddit like usual when I noticed a Steam pop-up had appeared unsolicited. I clicked on it and almost pissed myself. could it be. I checked my e-mail. IT IS!!! Of course I ran to tall my roommate and of course he shat bricks.

From that day forward I have been basking in the glory that is Dota 2. What an amazing game. The diversity. The strategy. The skill. The teamwork. All so fulfilling. Since my only "Dota" experience I had prior was HoN every hero release has been like Christmas morning. But I was not alone.

I was not in the dark. I had you. I had this community to continue my understanding; to further my skill; to make me better. This community has made playing this amazing game that much more amazing. So thank you, anyone reading this. You deserve it.

I know, I know. I'm not done with my thanks. Who would we not be here without? So I want to give a big thanks to Valve and Icefrog for making this game the best it could ever be. I also want to thank TobiWan for sacrificing his time to commentate for such a great e-sports community. Hell, I'm sure there are plenty more I mean to thank at this moment but my fingers are getting tired and I'm sure I sound like I am just rambling now. So once again, thank you everyone.

And now, on this day we are all sitting here, watching TI2 and all it's glory. Things have come a long way from TI1. We have seen some of the most epic games of Dota in our life's. Who WON'T remember Na'vi vs iG game 2.

Also, to this day I am almost 700 games strong with a ratio higher than 1:1!

r/dota2 keep on keepin' on. OPA OPA DOTA 2
