To me, Hillary appears to be a government employee looking for the promotion she feels she earned.
Contrarily, Bernie appears to me to be a civil servant seeking to serve a larger electorate.
Such perspectives will naturally guide campaigns.
Hillary is a corporatist. Her view of the Presidency as a promotion is natural. I don't quite condemn her for it, the view of political offices as rungs on corporate ladders has pervaded for quite some time now. It simply means that I will never use my vote to support her.
Bernie is an activist. He sees the problems we are facing, and wants to try to fix them. He seems to genuinely believe America not only can be fixed -- unlike no-we-can't Clinton, but also should be fixed -- unlike a GOP who's wanted to drown government in a bathtub (their words, not mine) since before Saint Reagan. As such, his message has been consistent, as the problem he's been working to fix hasn't been fixed yet, so he's just kept working at it. Which means he gets my support, because I want to fix those same problems as well.

'Maturity,' father had slowly begun,' Is knowing you're wrong and accepting it, son. There's prudence in pausing with patience and joy - And hearing the wisdom in others, my boy. 'A person's perspective,' he said with a smile, 'Is plain if you walk in their shoes for a while. | And if you can do it - if maybe you do - You might understand, and agree that it's true.' I followed his reasons, and nodded, polite; Perhaps that was logic - perhaps he was right. Perhaps there was truth in his claim all along... 'I'm twenty,' I countered: 'I'm right, and you're wrong.' |
